My Purpose of using Linkedin

Well, my purpose in using LinkedIn has definitely changed since I first made an account on the site 3 years ago. My account was quite dormant until 2 months ago. Then when I began to write content I actually discovered the true potential Linkedin actually has which is only a very small portion of a whole big chunk.

So, the purpose for which I use Linkedin is not too streamlined but I guess for now it comprises the following:

1. Grow my network: The world is a global village, so it is said and the importance of networking cannot be stressed less. I have not been to a lot of networking meetups and neither does my college offer such an opportunity so I resorted to Linkedin for doing the same and fill the gap(after all nothing’s impossible). I got my first client via LinkedIn, who knew that was coming(woo-hoo) and I am super happy that I took that leap. Having used it for the past two months I have already realized that my network should be kaleidoscopic.
2. Build my brand: In the world today, a person is known by the brand they have established. When you think of a particular person, the first thing that pops up in your mind is the brand, that person has and not how a person is on an individual level. The saying, “Jo dikhta hai wohi bikta hai” is very well established today. Linkedin can definitely help me do it because there are Linkedin legends already living. Every legend has a brand that is so unique to them and that is the best thing about it. I, thus want to build my brand so that my brand remains alive even when I am long gone.
3. Get my dream Offer: There have been phases in my life when I had to settle with what was offered to me instead of getting what I actually wanted. I don’t want my circumstances to control my unleash of potential. Linkedin has 500 million users and I do not see how I cannot happen to connect to people who actually can recognize me for the effort that I am putting in all on my own. Someday, if not today, I will definitely want to leave a mark like Mark Metry and people like him not only digitally but also physically and mentally on people globally. And I know Linkedin can help me achieve that.
4. Establishing my first venture: I have seen people get hit with a rough patch and then they decide to take things in their control. What I believe is, why not do it well in time and when there still is time left. Linkedin has a lot of potentials to unleash and I can already see the difference it's making in my life in only 2 months, I can only imagine what wonders and miracles it can do in the time to come[fingers crossed].

All these are the supersets of the very many purposes that they enclose. The list is not exhaustive obviously, because with time the purpose will keep changing. That’s the best part about demystifying Linkedin :).
